Caribbean Cruise 07

March 25th, 2007

Well, it took me a little longer to finally get pictures up, but I have up a handful of photos in the photo album.

The cruise was, of course, great, and it was definitely nice just being able to get away for a week and not have to worry about work! The cruise was on board the Celebrity Century, which visited Key West, and the Cayman Islands. While I’ve been to Key West on a previous cruise, I hadn’t been to the Cayman’s before. Visiting the Cayman’s was definitely a highlite as we got to go snorkeling with Stingrays! I was able to get Mazie to overcome her fears and even hold and kiss a stingray. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of that since my camera wouldn’t work too well in the water.

One highlite of the trip included the over indulgence of food. I had steak for dinner every single day! Prime Rib, Filet Mignon, Strip Steak, and more Filet Mignon. Great stuff. Also had my fill of Sushi everyday as there was a Sushi buffet too. I think we practically ate every 3 hours while we were awake.

Another memorable moment included the picking up of 12 Cuban refugees in the Atlantic Ocean. They were attempting to run away from Cuba, and were stranded in a small boat. The cruise ship stopped to pick them up, and they even stayed on the ship for 2 days as apparently the authorities in the Cayman Islands didn’t want them. Instead, they were handed over to the Coast Guard when we were heading back to Miami. Looks like they’ll be headed back to Cuba… If you look in the photo album, I actually have a couple of pictures of the boat they were in, as well as everyone looking over the edge to try and spot the boat.

Also, I want to congratulate Doug and Jeanne, whom we went on the cruise with, on their engagement!

Below are a few selected photos that I wanted to show. Definitely go take a look in the photo album for more pictures from the week!
