Help Mazie Find a Hobby!
May 1st, 2006
It has been brought to my attention from friends and family close to me that I should take up a new hobby. Any interesting suggestions?
I googled “how to find a hobby” and here are some hobbies that came up:
Get a buzz from beekeeping
Build a village around a model train layout
Treasure hunt with a metal detector
Ok, so I don’t know if any of these are for me but there must be some cool things out there that you all are doing. Write us and let us know what you all do for fun and maybe I’ll find a hobby along the way…

I like the “Treasure hunt with a metal detector” one. That way, you can spend the day at the beach AND work on your tan =]

I’ve recently taken up making hemp bracelets out of hemp twine. I suppose you could.. redecorate the YG room to start?

Baically think of ideas in this way, hobbies have main categories, but are just doing anything you like to do. Ebaying is a hobby if you want it to be, so just think of what you like to do and do it. If you need ideas, here’s an outline of my ideas
Physical Hobbies
Sports:Rollerblading, jogging, gymnastics, badmitten, bowling, billiards, hunting
Excersize: Lift weights/Cardio, dance, swim, bike, hike (you could also fish, get involved with nature)
Spiritual/Community Hobbies
Set up a bible study for interested people in the community, much like a book club, but of the Bible
Volunteer at Hospital, nursing home, childrens home, home for the handicapped, crisis center, counceling center, adoption agency, etc.
make a list of elderly/lonely people that you know of in your community and try to visit one every day or every week or so, maybe even try to help them do things they need to do like clean or fix something
Artistic/project hobbies
Crafts: i.e. popsickle stick sculptures, ornaments, etc.
carving, woodworking, furniture refinishing, painting, landscaping/gardening, house/apt. decorating, make candle’s, cook, read, confectionry (make candy), bake, stained glass murals, pottery, design anything you want and try to build it out of common household items (want a new desk organizer or something like that?)
Other Hobbies
Photography, Filming, music (collecting, listening, or making), learn to play a/another instrument, learn how different instruments work to creat the sound that they produce, run a marathon, etc.

I think that you should pursue something intellectual. Become a chess master, or better yet, pick up sudoku! Or you could decorate the Youth Group room. I thought tennis would be good too. You look like a tennis player. If not, you can always have me try out new food on your Wok :).
