My First Photos
April 26th, 2006
Seeing how I’ve had my camera for a few days now, I’ve been able to take a few pictures in the attempt to learn how to take nice photos. It’s definitely not as easy as point and click, as I have to pay attention to the shutter speed, the apperature being used, and the ISO of the camera. That’s before I even think about other factors that come into play when taking a picture. Even though I’m still a complete noob at all this, I figured I’d post one of the better pictures I’ve taken so far. Nothing special, but I think it looks nice. Spring’s here!

Also, here’s an obligatory shot of me taking a picture in the mirror. Not really that great a picture, but it’ll do for this post.

Be on the lookout for more pictures to come in the future! You’ll definitely be seeing me carry around the camera everywhere I go, being the dork that I am. ![]()

Heh, guess you can play the role that Dr. Mike used to play around RCCC and the youth group.

Pretty good shot… Anyway not that it is bad or anything but your background is pretty cluttered. Personally, i like shooting stuff with either a clean background or an interesting background and this case your background is pretty interesting but it is distracting enough that the foreground subject does not pop up. You can try 2 things to make the foreground pop up more from the background.
1) use a bigger aperture (small f-stop) or use a longer focal length to isolate the background more
2) Re compose the shot to mimimize the distracting background. You can try using the blue sky as a background. The uniform light blue background will make the foreground pop up more.
Anyway again, nice photos for someone who just picked up a camera. Happy shooting !!!
