30 Hour Famine
March 25th, 2006
This weekend, the YG participated in the 30 Hour Famine, a World Vision sponsored event. This year, the event was led and planned completely by Elaine for her senior project. Everything went really well, and she did a great job of leading everything. For those that don’t know, the 30 hour famine is a time for people to basically fast for 30 hours to give them an idea of what people around the world go through when they aren’t able to eat. Fortunately, we’re blessed to have the ability to eat to our stomachs content when the 30 hours are up, which isn’t the case for lots of people.
About 35 people participated, and was hopefully beneficial while fun for all those that took part. I actually wasn’t too hungry going the whole time without eating. There were some tougher times though, especially with some of the planned activites. One such activity was where each group had to go out and spend only $25 to purchase enough food for an entire family to eat for a day. All the groups did a great job buying food on such a limited budget. The community service activity consisted of going to Foodlink and helping with some of the tasks that they needed done.
Overall a great time and a great job done by Elaine. I’ve put up pictures into the Photo Album, 160 some pictures, so if it’s a little slow loading at first, just be patient. Also take note of the new YG T-shirt! Great job on the design! ![]()
