So you DON’T want to goto Graduate School: Part 1

September 29th, 2005

For those who are not leaning towards graduate school, here’s a post for you. Today was the CMU TOC (Technical Opportunities Conference) and there must have been 100 compaines here just for technical positions. Interviews start this week, i wish anyone with an interview the best of luck.
However, I tend to think of the TOC as two things: (1) an interactive resume drop, and (2) a grab bag for free stuff!
for the first, it makes sense: how many recruiters will remember you by name? they’re basically there for the resumes. For the second, here are the warez i got from 5 hours at the TOC:

The Low-Down:
1. T-shirts! 7 in total, from the following companies: AMD, VIVISIMO Inc, INTWINE, CERNER, MATHSOFT, MOTOROLA, LOCKHEED MARTIN. My favorite has to be the one from mathsoft - it say’s MATLAB & SIMULINK on the front!

2. Electronics! One 32mb USB Flash drive (Merck), One laser pointer (Pfizer), One USB 2.0 Hub (DRS Technologies), and a COOL book lamp (Toyota)

3. Miscellani! One Notebook (Barclays Capital), One Pin (Central Intelligence Agency), One box of Lysol Clean Wipes (Reckitt Benckiser), One Rubber ducky key chain (Northrup Grumman), One water bottle (Bosch)

heeeeheeee :grin::grin::grin::grin:
That is all. Go get a job so you can make cool things to distribute at career fairs!

  1. This may be my first post. Wow…you have quite a collection of free stuff Glad TOC was “productive” for you ha ha. I actually had to take it seriously this year so I hopefully get a job. You don’t need 7 shirts give 6 to people who didn’t get a shirt! Give one to your brother.
