In 5 years I hope…
September 20th, 2005
A few days ago, Eric was preparing the lesson for the Jr. High Sunday school class and since this was more of an intro class, he dug up these old surveys that the YG had taken in 1999. The surveys were actually all archived in the yahoogroups e-mail list so that you could go back to the first e-mails when the list started and see what people were writing. Looking back through these surveys, I noticed 1 question among the 28 that stood out to me. The question was:
Where do you hope to see yourself in 5 years? spiritually?
Since I could look through everyone’s e-mails I got to re-read what people in the YG had said 6 years ago. It’s actually quite interesting to read what people put down, and then to see where they’re at now. For those that wrote their answers, I wonder if they remember them, or if they were able to follow through on what they wrote. Since the YG is filling these surveys out again, it’ll be interesting to see in 5 years how they were able to follow through on what they wrote. The following was my answer to the question:
Hopefully in 5 years college will have helped me grow spiritually instead of hurt my growth.
I’d have to say that college was definitely a spiritual journey and in the end, I’d say that I have grown spiritually from where I was 6 years ago. If you remember taking the survey 6 years ago, or if you were in the YG 6 years ago and want to find out your answer, let me know and I’ll see if i can dig it up for you. ![]()

I read all those surveys in the summer… the “younger” one those days stood out to me because they are my “generation.” Quite interesting to see them these past 6-ish years…
