7 Reasons why CS majors are just like Christ

September 15th, 2005

So I was eating lunch today in Newell-Simon, and I was sitting next to the “CS Majors Club” table. While nothing formal, CS majors always sit at in this one area at this one table of the dining area. They always have their laptops on, and their discussions of which OS is better raging. So after some staring at them (perhaps similar to what one does at the zoo), I had an epiphany. I realized: CS majors are the most Christian of us all!

Why? Because isn’t christianity all about living like Christ and pursuing to become like Jesus in action and in thought? ‘Well,’ I thought to myself, ‘these CS majors that I’m looking at sure seem to be doing that.’
Here we go with 7 Reasons why CS majors are just like Christ.

1) CS majors like to grow their hair out and have very little interest in personal effects, like soap. Jesus was just like that! Carrying nothing but his tunic, he traveled around the lands of Judea.

2) CS majors hang around in small groups all the time. Jesus had his twelve disciples which formed his communal ring of friends.

3) CS majors see the world through different eyes, usually in lines of code. Jesus saw the world in both the physical and spiritual realm.

4) Jesus often withdrew from the crowds to spend time alone. CS majors do this all the time.

5) Jesus had the power to manipulate reality. Have you seen the matrix? CS majors become hackers you know.

6) Jesus spent time with the lame, rejected and dumb. CS majors do that too!

7) Jesus never married.
