Kobe Beef!

March 27th, 2005

So Saturday night, I had the privilege of going with a few friends down to Church Brew Works for some good grub. The restaurants really interesting and unique, because its a microbrewery/pub/restaurant inside a refurbished presbyterian church (looks kinda like a cathedral). So you can wine & dine in the pews and view the giant stained glass fascades. Really fun experience if your ever in Pittsburgh.

Anyway, the main entree for the evening was KOBE BEEF. And I’m gonna give you the d-l on what a $45 steak tastes like.

The steak can only be cooked medium rare or rare, otherwise the special flavor is destroyed. The meat is extremely tender, no matter the cut, and it is marbled with fat throughout. The meat is very consistent, and theres not a single bite that tastes tough, bland, or chewy. The cows that provide this scrumptuous dinner are raised in Nebraska and are a special japanese breed. They are raised with healthy pampering such as: daily massages and regiments of beer. This pampering leads to the exquisite style and flavor of the meat, which is one of the most unique in all the world.

It is oh so wonderful. I ate it straight, unadultered by sauce or side dishes. My adage goes: “Good meat doesn’t need sauce.” And this was definitely good meat.

Y’all should try it sometime. Its definitely worth the experience.
