Auburn hair and freckles don't appeal to everybody, but don't turn off everybody either) I've had poor luck with women for the most part,I've wound up being stuck in the "friend zone" with all sorts of beautiful girls. But in retrospect, I can only blame myself. I've seen some ugly men hook up with great looking women, so yes, it can happen. When it comes to first impressions, i,e meeting a guy for the first time, I think most "normal" women look for the following criteria: 1) at least reasonably well groomed and odor/stain free. It indicates that you're conscientous and clean. 2) Confidence, stupid! This doesn't mean being a jerk or an idiot. It does mean NOT endlessly stuttering, looking away, acting scared, or otherwise showing odd, subtle neurotic behavior when trying to talk to her. It means being relaxed and comfortable, while engaging her interest. 3) Communication: Provided you've met the other criteria, you also have to let her know you're interested. This doesn't mean acting like some perverous lech. This also doesn't mean being all dramatic and acting like she's your one true love after five minutes of knowing her. Just a fun little date, no biggie. This is what I've seen successful men do with the girls who just want to be friends with me.
