Internets
November 13th, 2004
If you were at the Michael Moore Event, you might’ve remembered when Moore made fun of Bush when Bush remarked about there being “Internets.”
“What there are multiple internets!? Get me on the other one!” Moore proclaimed.
Well, truth be spoken, there are two internets.
There is the standard one, and there is also Internet-2.
Take a peek.
It’s a secondary academic network primarily for universities and affiliates - viz a vie the original flavor of internets. But of course, bandwidth for this network is fractional to what schools have to pay for commodity bandwidth - and typically it is left unrestricted.
Enter: i2hub
If you’re on a university network, you can use this DirectConnect client to surf the I2 network, rather than the standard commodity network. Fun stuff.
