The Value of a Dollar
September 2nd, 2004
Besides being 0.82 Euros, what is the value of a dollar? It has virtually no inherent value, yet is imputed with so much. Sure, it buys the bling-bling for the pretty ladies, is readily burnable, and can get you out of a tiff if you’ve misplaced your toilet paper. Its just fascinating to see how something so intrinsically valueless can command those intangibles that have inherent value: respect, power, admiration, obedience, drugs. Perhaps it all follows the old adage, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. For what is more beautiful, more divine than what you treasure as the Beautiful and the Divine. …
I had roast beef on white for lunch.
